The Differences Between Beam Racking and Drive-in Racking

更新时间:2024-05-12点击次数:63

Beam racking is a professional warehouse shelving system designed for the storage and retrieval of palletized goods (each pallet represents a storage location, hence it is also known as location-type racking).

Beam racking consists of upright frames (columns) and beams, offering a simple and secure structure. Based on the user's actual usage requirements—such as pallet load capacity, pallet dimensions,

available warehouse space, and the lifting height of forklifts—beam racking is available in various specifications to choose from.

Drive-in racking, also known as through-aisle racking or drive-through racking, allows forklifts (or unmanned vehicles with forks) to enter the aisles for storing and retrieving goods.

It is suitable for storing large quantities of a limited variety of goods. Except for the storage locations near the aisles, forklifts need to enter the interior of the racking to access goods,

and it is generally recommended that the depth of single-sided retrieval does not exceed seven storage locations. To improve forklift operating speed, guide rails can be installed as needed.

Compared to location-type racking, drive-in racking can increase warehouse space utilization by over 30%. Drive-in racking is widely used in wholesale, cold storage, and industries such as food and tobacco.
